Thinking about: New opportunities. I have a few new things on the horizon that I'm working on, and I'm anxious and excited for everything to work out the way I want it to. Of course, nothing happens as quickly as I'd like, so I'm being taught patience anew in this season of waiting. Luckily, it's Christmas, so I have plenty to distract me. Everything is purchased and either under the tree or on it's way to us via the beloved UPS man.
So I'm turning my focus to gift wrap. Okay that's a lie. My focus has always been on gift wrap. Wrapping all the gifts in pretty paper and ribbon might be my very favorite part of the pre-Christmas preparation, which I blame 100% on my father. He loves wrapping presents, so I learned from the best and then took off with it. Now no gift is complete without at least two sparkly ribbons, some glitter washi tape, and a pretty gift tag. It just can't be helped.
If you're looking for pretty gift wrap, look no further. Thatch & Thistle supply co on Etsy has the most beautiful things. Also Target's dollar bin looks like an Etsy shop exploded all over it, so that should be your other first stop.
Reading: Another Inspector Rebus Novel. Again, it can't be helped.
Listening to: A Very She & Him Christmas. Don't you just love Zooey Deschanel? She's so dreamy. M. Ward's raspy voice and beautiful guitar are the perfect addition to Zooey's crooning. This album feels like it's straight from the 1950's. It's sweet and intimate and makes me love Christmas music all over again. I'm looking for a good radio station based off this album, but Spotify and iTunes radio don't seem to have anything. Moving on to Pandora next!
Watching: I haven't been watching much tv lately. We recently finished a few of my favorite shows, and I've been really into my books lately, so the tv has fallen by the wayside. I did manage to catch up on Top Chef and Project Runway All Stars on Friday afternoon. Both are awesome. Ray and I watched Man of Steel Saturday night and OHMYGOSH Henry Cavill is a looker. My oh my. Spend a few minutes with Google images girls and you'll see what I mean. Anyway... moving on.
Thankful for: New opportunities. Quiet weekends at home. So many happy and cozy and warm Christmas memories. New memories we'll make with Emmett this Christmas. Gift wrap. The roof over our heads and warm beds while so many are going without. My family. Emmett and his budding vocabulary, which provides endless entertainment for us. Christmas lights. This little guy:
Linking up with the lovely ladies at A Mama Collective!
I am completely unfamiliar with Inspector Rebus novels...what are they like?!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Zooey D had a Christmas album!! I need to check that out ASAP! :)
The Inspector Rebus series is sort of a... modern take on Sherlock Holmes? I've got a major thing for British detective stories, so I'm hooked on this series. Luckily there are like 20 books so they've been keeping me pretty busy. :)
DeleteCheck out that album! It's really great.
